Biography

Dr. zur Nieden is an Associate Professor of Molecular, Cell & Systems Biology at the University of California Riverside. She has developed projects in stem cell expansion, differentiation and predictive assay development and investigates the signaling pathways that direct osteoblast differentiation and development. Her research has been funded by the German Ministry for Science and Education, the Tobacco Related Disease Research Program, the CAAT, the NIH and the EPA. Dr. zur Nieden has served as an issue editor on 'stem cells for osteo-degenerative diseases' in the Humana Press book series 'Methods in Molecular Biology'. She is also an Editor for Stem Cells International and a founding editorial board member of Current Research in Toxicology. Between 2004 and 2006, she served on the Junior Investigators Committee of the International Society for Stem Cell Research and the Training Advisory Committee of the Canadian Stem Cell Network.
